Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a technology used by cosmetic and medical practitioners to perform various skin treatments for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes.
An IPL photo facial treats sun damage, sunspots, rosacea, broken capillaries, cherry angiomas, and freckles. IPL systems work on the same principles as lasers in that light energy is absorbed into particular target cells with colour (chromophores) in the skin. The light energy is converted to heat energy, which causes damage to the specific target area and removing the colour from the skin.
The main benefit of an IPL Photo Facial is an even skin tone with a more youthful appearance.
For the Best Outcome:
We recommend 4-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. Another tip – always wear sunscreen!
Downtime:
Zero downtime. You will have darkening spots of the pigmented spots for roughly 7 days and will need to stay out of the sun for minimum two weeks and wear sunscreen daily for at least one month.
If this is your first IPL treatment with us, a patch test will be required 24 hours before your appointment. Please call the clinic to book a test patch before booking an appointment.
