Ultimate Pre-Wedding Beauty Preparation Guide

Are you hearing the soft chimes of wedding bells soon? I recently said my vows and, in the process, compiled an exhaustive guide to pre-wedding beauty preparation. If you're planning your special day or just intrigued by the journey, keep reading to discover the steps I took over the years to ensure I glowed on my big day.

1: Laser Treatments (Approximately 10 months before):

With a July wedding, I kickstarted my laser treatments in the preceding fall. Scheduling these sessions during fall and winter minimizes the risk of sun exposure. My treatments mainly focused on Fractional Resurfacing, pre-book a complimentary test patch with one of our professionals here and IPL Photo Facials here, addressing skin texture and pigmentation.

2. Microneedling & Chemical Peels (2-3 months before):

As my wedding day approached, my routine shifted to Microneedling and Chemical Peels, benefiting skin texture, complexion, and overall health. Since my wedding dress was backless, I even got a Chemical Peel on my back for a radiant look.

3. Target fine lines (2 months before):

Two months before the wedding, I leaned into treatments that focused on fine lines and to control oil. The BelaMD Epidermal Infusion medical skin health also helped with any hyperpigmentation and brown spots.

4. Dermal Fillers (3-4 months before):

Having had fillers before, I knew exactly what to expect. However, if you're a newbie, start 3-4 months prior to your wedding to refine your desired outcome.

5. Injectables (1 month prior):

Injectables, for best results, were incorporated into my routine a month before the wedding. Injectables take two weeks to fully work their magic, so it’s definitely good to work that ahead of time. It lasts for about three months, however, so be careful not to do it too far in advance. Give yourself at least 2 weeks before the big day, so you have enough time to fine-tune everything. Personally, I had my injectables done one month prior to my wedding, just to be safe.

6. Dermaplaning (1-2 months before):

A fan of Dermaplaning for skin exfoliation, I continued with my DIY sessions using my purchased tool, ensuring my skin was smooth and product-ready. I sound like a broken record when I say you don’t need to spend a fortune to have someone do it for you. I bought my Dermaplaning tool online and do it once every week or two. Dermaplaning is actually a really good exfoliant, allowing your products to absorb much easier and also removing that small layer of peach fuzz hair on your skin (yes, we all have it!). Your makeup will apply much smoother, and you’ll be left with skin as soft as a baby’s bum!

Now if you’ve never done it before, I do not recommend trying it out for the first time the week of.

7. Laser Hair Removal:

To ensure a carefree honeymoon, I went in for Laser Hair Removal treatments, spaced approximately 6-8 weeks apart. The last thing you’ll want to be worrying about is shaving when you’re supposed to be ebstoreNew/services/7c76da64-d207-4eb7-872e-02c10a395741soaking in all of that marital bliss. Thankfully, we have Laser Hair Removal to help with that.

9. Self-Tanning (3 weeks before):

I opted for a familiar self-tan routine, using the Luna bronze tanning mousse. Remember, if you're considering self-tanning, always test a small patch first. You simply wash it off after one to three hours, depending on your preference. Again, and I cannot express this one enough, do not try self-tanner for the first time the night before your wedding unless you want to risk looking like the cast of Jersey Shore. If it is your first time, I highly recommend a self-tan practice run a few weeks before your wedding, and then applying it a few days before the big day. This one is filled with antioxidants, essential oils and a natural tanning active suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

Bonus Tips:

Stick to a familiar skincare regimen. Avoid introducing new products too close to the wedding.

Keep exfoliating. Products like ZO Exfoliating Polish https://thevanitylab.com/product/offects-exfoliating-polish/ and ZO Exfoliating Accelerator https://thevanitylab.com/product/zo-exfoliation-accelerator-travel-size/ come highly recommended.

Have an emergency skincare kit, including essentials like the ZO Complexion Clearing Mask.
