Conditions
Under-eye hollows and dark circles
Under-eye hollows occur as a result of loss of volume (bone and/or fat pads) under the eye area, dehydration, lack of sleep or rapid weight loss. Symptoms include dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles creating a tired, sunken appearance. These hollows can get more noticeable as the skin loses volume with age and lifestyle factors for example lack of sleep and dehydration. The skin under the eyes is very thin and delicate, which is why it sometimes appears sunken and has a darker colour than elsewhere on the face. Age plays a role in sunken eyes or under-eye hollows, but other factors can contribute to the darkening/hollowing of this area, so it may (and often does) affect younger people as well.
Redness or Rosacea
Your rosy cheeks may have been adorable when you were five, but not so much anymore. Rosacea’s impact on a person’s appearance can be disheartening to the emotional and social lives of those who suffer from this misunderstood condition. In addition to this, the stress of simply socializing often acts as a trigger for flare-ups. There is no cure for Rosacea, but the condition can be managed and controlled with regular skincare treatments and the correct home care products.
Acne & Blemishes
Most people struggle with acne at some point in their life. Acne can seriously affect one’s confidence and self-esteem. At The Vanity Lab, we combine a variety of in-clinic treatments with a targeted home care regime to ensure results are achieved effectively and quickly.
Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating is when you sweat more than you might expect based on the surrounding temperature or your activity level or stress. Excessive sweating can disrupt daily activities and cause social anxiety or embarrassment. Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, can affect your entire body or just certain areas, particularly your underarms, palms, soles, face and even intimate areas. Normally, your sweat glands produce perspiration on the skin’s surface when the air temperature rises, when you are exercising, when you develop a fever, or you’re feeling anxious, nervous or stressed. When those factors are no longer in play, the “normal” sweating stops. For those suffering from excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis, the sweat glands don’t shut off.
Skin sagging
Loose or sagging skin is not the first, but one of the most prominent, signs of aging that occurs when our skin loses collagen and elasticity. Most people start to experience skin sagging, loosening or laxity between the ages of 35 and 40 and often find this quite traumatic, as it appears to have happened overnight. There is hope for those struggling with jowls, double chins and sagging cheeks.
Lip enhancement
Lips can lose fullness for a variety of reasons, including aging, and environmental and occupational factors. Most people experience volume loss due to a decrease in structure and hydration. This is due to the decrease in collagen and other connective tissue as they age, as well as the ability to hold onto moisture. Lips also define the face – not all of us were born with the perfect pout. Wanting fuller lips is becoming the norm and we are seeing more younger patients interested in lip enhancement to further enhance their features.
Acne Scarring
Usually, scars tell a story — some of which, we’d rather not share! Acne scars are stubborn, and no single treatment is best for everyone. One or a combination of skin treatments might improve the appearance of your skin, depending on your scar type, your skin type and the severity of the scarring.
Texture
Who doesn’t want Photoshop-worthy skin, au-natural? Uneven/poor skin texture occurs from the localized build-up of dead skin cells. This can lead to an uneven, rough, wrinkled and bumpy/scaly feeling skin. One of the most common complaints of facial skin is poor skin texture and a dull appearing complexion. This happens during normal aging and can also be caused by sun exposure, hormonal influences, and smoking.
Hyperpigmentation
Did you know that worldwide 90% of people over 50 will suffer from some form of hyperpigmentation? It is therefore not surprising that skin pigmentation is one of the leading concerns among clients. Pigmentation occurs due to the production of melanin by melanocyte cells and is the pigment responsible for your skin’s colour. The technical term for too much pigment is
Skin aging and wrinkles
Unfortunately, our skin doesn’t stay smooth and taut throughout our lifetime. The skin changes and it is part of growing older. It loses its elasticity and resilience and eventually starts to sag and develop wrinkles. Skin aging cannot be prevented, but there are steps we can take to slow this process down to help you look like the best version of yourself at every age.
Facial Slimming and Contouring
As we age, our face undergoes several structural changes involving the loss of bony and fat tissue support, as well as an increase in muscle laxity. These contour changes can result in a sad, tired and less feminine appearance, leaving many interested in facial contouring treatments to replace the volume loss and regain their youthful appearance. Genetic causes, an asymmetrical facial shape, and fatty deposits in many patients have also sparked the interest in facial contouring and slimming
Neck and Chest Rejuvenation
Our necks and chests can often be a tell-tale sign of our true age. These areas are exposed to ongoing sun damage, causing blemishes and sun spots. Over time, fat and collagen loss around the neck and chest can lead to permanent wrinkles and prominent neck bands.
